Licensing
Requirements:
Guardians: at least 21 years of age; 2 or more years of professional
client casework experience or at least an associate degree in human
services, psychology, etc; certified by nationally recognized guardianship
organization; proof of ability to be licensed and bonded; and a clear
criminal history check. Conservators:
at least 21 years of age; high school diploma or GED; 6 months' employment
experience involving financial management, or at least an associate
degree in accounting or related subject; certified by nationally recognized
guardianship organization; proof of ability to be licensed and bonded;
and a clear criminal history check.
Temporary License: can
be issued to a guardian or conservator applicant who is not certified
by a nationally recognized organization in the field of guardianships
at the time of application but is likely to become certified within
one year from the date of the issuance of the temporary license.
Organizations:
maintains place of business in Alaska; in compliance with state and
federal requirements regarding the type of organization; proof of
ability to be licensed and bonded; resumes and clear criminal history
checks of officers/partners/members.
