Job Description
You will be a key contributor on cross-functional development teams
that will be creating innovative & cost-effective concentrating
photovoltaic (CPV) products. You will investigate numerous mechanical
manufacturing technologies, perform experiments, create cost models,
and implement your ideas into volume production. You will work directly
with the engineering & operations teams to influence the product
design and manufacturing approach. Areas of investigation will include
but not be limited to: metal fabrication techniques, metal joining techniques
& advanced assembly technologies. Responsibilities
to include:
• Investigate mechanical manufacturing technologies for fabrication
& assembly
• Develop & implement test methodologies to evaluate competing
technologies. Prepare & present reports to summarize & communicate
test results.
• Develop cost models for manufacturing options & provide
objective criteria for decision making
• Implement selected technologies in volume production
Experience
and Qualifications (required unless otherwise noted):
• A true passion for making things real in high volume &
cost reduction
• Strong hands–on mechanical aptitude, plus a strong interest
in learning about new manufacturing processes
• Ability to use tools like Solidworks or other 3D solid modeling
package to develop tests & samples
• Ability to do basic structural & thermal analysis a big
plus
