Job Description
Job Summary:
Efficiently and accurately perform transcription of chart notes and
correspondence by physicians and other professional staff utilizing
appropriate transcription equipment.
Essential Duties:
Type physician and professional staff dictation within 48 hours of
receipt or 12 hours for STAT request.
Provide typing services for clinic staff, as needed, including meeting
minutes, manuscripts, speeches, letters and other correspondence.
Coordinate outside transcription services including flow of tapes,
printed reports and deficiency reports to provider. Researches questions
or blanks left by outside transcriptionist.
Transcribes special reports as needed. Dispatches finished reports
to appropriate parties.
Coordinate with nursing staff and medical records as necessary in
locating transcription and reprinting reports.
Follows medical record policies and procedures in regards to pulling
and re-filing charts.
Works with staff to route patient charts to proper location.
Verifies accuracy of patient information in the file.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Maintain reference library of transcribed materials.
Place service calls on dictation/transcription equipment and orders
supplies as needed.
Follows established Elysium procedures for locating reports and printing.
Job Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Courses in medical terminology and medical transcription preferred.
Experience:
Demonstrated ability to type 75 wpm.
License/Certification:
None required
