Job Description
Classification: Temporary to Full Time
Fort Worth Based
Medical Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Coder/Reimbursement
Specialist.
Typical Duties:
-Adheres to and participates in the Network and CHS Policies, Procedures,
PI/QI Programs, Code of Ethics, Compliance, HIPPA, Fire/Safety, Infection
Control Programs, and work standards of behavior.
-Coding diagnosis and procedures of urgent care, emergencies services,
and ambulatory/outpatient records utilizing ICD-9-CM and CPT coding
protocols and manuals.
-Ensures codes are assigned accurately and correctly ensuring reimbursement
is appropriate in accordance with government, insurance, and/or other
payer regulations.
-Ensures that codes are assigned and entered in the Network system
accurately and within prescribed time parameters ensuring timely and
appropriate billing.
-Exhibits and demonstrates a high quality of Service Excellence and
positive customer service and telephone etiquette by interacting with
Network and CHS staff, providers, patients, families, and others with
dignity and respect utilizing age specific skills and knowledge.
-Informs management of any problems encountered and assists with developing
and implementing solutions.
-Informs management of number of records coded daily, maintaining
productivity standards set during performance review and/or as determined
by acceptable coding practices of the position.
-Maintains general work habits.
-Maintains the confidentiality of the patient record, adhering to
hospital policy and when appropriate follows the guidelines of the
Department Release of Information policies.
-Performs other duties as may be assigned or assumed which are within
the scope of the employee's skills, expertise, and/or education.
-Works closely with health center/clinic, medical and nursing staff
regarding documentation and charging issues, ensuring records are
promptly received enabling the efficient coding and billing of outpatient
encounters.
