Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for review of Medical Record Charting.
2. Identify coding and documentation deficiencies.
3. Perform internal chart audits for documentation and coding accuracy.
4. Review / ensure Encounter form coding accuracy.
5. Provide documentation and coding training to physicians and support
staff.
6. Perform one-on-one audit reviews with audited physicians and provide
documentation and coding education in identified areas that did not
support codes selected (i.e. history, exam and/or decision making)
7. Maintain current knowledge of medical service coding and guidelines.
8. Monitor accuracy of physician documentation and coding for compliance.
9. Assist with the continuous quality improvement process to identify
coding training needs and assure timeliness of encounter completion.
10. Responsible for the communication to physicians and medical staff
on the importance of medical record charting and coding accuracy.
Hours: Monday through Friday - 8:00am – 5:00pm
Duration: 1 year +
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
1. 2 or more years working knowledge of ICD-9 and
CPT-4 coding REQUIRED. (E&M coding)
2. Procedural Coding Certification REQUIRED…OR obtainable within
1 year. (CPC or comparable coding certification).
3. Medical Records / Chart Auditing experience REQUIRED.
4. Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
REQUIRED.
5. Must be knowledgeable with current coding guidelines to ensure
physicians and support staff are compliant.
Background Checks & Drug Screen:
* Within 24-48 hours of accepting a contingent offer
of employment, all candidates will be required to take a Drug test.
In addition, a detailed Criminal Background check will be conducted
and used as a screening tool as permitted by law.
