Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive materials management functions to a series of
cells. Responsible for all materials related functions associated with
the manufacture of the cells’ products. Cross training in those
skills necessary to operate the cell will be provided.
Major Responsibilities:
Train cell associates to perform materials functions including managing
purchasing open order reports, planner order action reports, receiving/shipping
transactions, RTV management, and expediting.
Independently manage suppliers that provide raw materials used across
multiple cells according to the Supplier Excellence Criteria. Validate
and communicate requirements with suppliers at agreed upon intervals.
Work closely with the supplier’s contacts and other purchasing
personnel ensuring that product supplied supports cell needs. Manage
long-run supplier capacity by proactively providing part forecasts for
long-lead material.
Solve commercial problems for supplied product including, but not limited
to, receiving discrepancies, invoice errors, and RTV’s.
Analyze production requirements and launch the appropriate manufacturing
jobs and purchase orders to support the build plan. Develop and provide
input to the manufacturing build plan.
Review certifications of incoming products and processes for conformance
to company specification requirements.
Control material flow (scheduling) and inventory accuracy. Assign trace
codes and apply to parts and record part numbers.
Record documentation, file records. Act as primary driver supporting
Varco’s inventory and materials policies. Use
symix to firm jobs, release jobs, and create routings, release purchase
requisitions, release purchase orders, create and maintain product
bills of material.
Perform the planning
and purchasing functions within EDC for document release.
Act as an integral
member of the cellular team including the team spirit to occasionally
backfill other cell members in support of meeting and exceeding customer
expectations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in purchasing and
planning.
Knowledge of MRPII planning and Scheduling.
Strong communication skills including the ability to act as a trainer.
