Information Technology Specialist 3 About
the Position: Under limited supervision, the IT Specialist performs
a variety of technology and computer related tasks, primarily in support
of Parking Services, but also Lockshop and Police operations of the
department.
This position
is part of a Public School Employees of WWU bargaining unit. New employees
are required to meet the membership requirements of the current collective
bargaining agreement within 30 calendar days of employment.

the University and the public we serve.Position Responsibilities:
* Maintain a
local area network (LAN), connectivity with the campus backbone, Internet
and special Law Enforcement automated systems
* Maintain specialized Parking Management and Law Enforcement software
* Manage SQL Server and Oracle platform databases and proprietary
software
* Design and maintain web presence for DPS, PKO, UPD, Lockshop, Greencoats,
Safe-Campus program – including on-line forms and data retrieval/reporting
* Manage inventory control for electronic equipment – maintain
current inventory, arrange for removal of surplus equipment
* Coordinate telecommunications needs for the department including
Blackberry, Call Pilot
* Implement new major Parking application and Pay Box application
– coordinate with vendors for data conversion and related efforts
* Maintain computerized functions of Parking related hardware such
as Payboxes and Visitor Center Kiosks Maintain backup systems and
security for department computer systems
* Assist users with database access, reporting and related activities
* Coordinate with vendors for problem-solving with proprietary software
* Develop appropriate systems integration
* Coordinate with campus technology staff for interoperability with
the campus system
* Research and recommend IT equipment and specialized applications
for the department
* Represent the department on the LAN Manager’s Group
* Maintain all departmental PCs, laptops
* Coordinate with County, City and WSP for access and connectivity
to external systems such as ACCESS, WEBMSS, LongARM, AS4000 system,
LiveScan, WENET, LinKs
* Coordinate updates/installations for ARMS when available
* Provide support and training for PC users – common Microsoft
Suite products, specialized departmental applications such as Parking
and Police systems
* Administer department e-mail accounts, group lists, WWU system accounts
(Banner, Exchange, etc)
Required
Qualifications:
* Four years
of information technology experience such has analyzing, designing,
installing, programming, and/or maintaining computer software applications,
hardware, or network infrastructure equipment or providing customer
or technical support in information technology
* WEB programming – HTML, ASP experience
* Experience with SQL, Oracle
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Publisher,
MS Access, PowerPoint
* Experience with Networking – wired and WI-FI
* Experience with Programming Languages – Basic, C++,
Java
