Job Description
The Project Manager
implements strategy and systems improvements to support the operations
of Discover Student Loans.
Responsibilities
include:
1. Identify opportunities
to improve operations by analyzing data, listening to customer calls,
interviewing staff, observing workflows, etc.
2. Develop business cases for potential new projects requiring investment
or technology development
3. Represent business partners in resource allocation process to obtain
funding and technology resources
4. Negotiate contracts with outside providers
5. Work with internal teams and external partners to define implementation
requirements and timelines
6. Create project plans and maintain project documentation
7. Coordinate implementation activities by work group of representatives
from multiple functional areas
8. Identify and resolve issues to ensure projects are completed on
time and within budget
9. Provide project status updates to senior management
10. Monitor post-implementation results
The role is based
in Riverwoods, IL (headquarters). Travel is occasionally required
to Lake Park, UT (operations) and other locations.*HJ
Qualifications
Excellent project
management skills, including ability to manage multiple projects with
limited supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability
to work with internal and external partners on large initiatives.
PMP certification
or plan to obtain certification in one year.
Student loan industry experience (federal and private loans) is preferred
but not necessary.
