Located on the scenic Northern California Coast, Sutter Coast Hospital
first opened its doors in 1931 and has continued to evolve to meet the
changing needs of the residents of Crescent City, California and Brookings-Harbor,
Oregon. We affiliated with Sutter Health in 1986 and moved to our present
location in 1992. The not-for-profit hospital has 59 beds and serves
a population of approximately 43,000. Sutter Coast Hospital is fully
accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Sutter Coast Hospital
provides a wide spectrum of quality health care services ranging from
wellness programs to acute hospital care. Services include a 24-hour
emergency department, intensive care/critical care units, surgery,
obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, urgent care and home health
services.
Provides nursing
care within the scope of practice utilizing a process of assessment,
planning, implementation and evaluation under the supervision of a
Physician. The Medical Assistant delivers and documents care for a
specific group of patients ranging in age/developmental stages from
adolescents to geriatrics with the main focus on adults to geriatrics
so that physiological, psychosocial, safety, learning and self-care
needs of patients are addressed, including family learning needs.
The Medical Assistant collaborates with the Physician in planning
and implementing patient care.
Requirements
Must demonstrate
Sutter values of caring, compassion, honesty, integrity, excellence,
quality, teamwork and community. Completion of training for Medical
Assistant with AA or Certificate preferred. No experience required
with a Medical Assistant Certification, 1-2 years preferred. In the
absence of a Medical Assistant Certificate, Physician's office experience
required, 5 years preferred.
Skills/Knowledge:
q Working knowledge
of basic pharmacology, medical terminology, aseptic technique
q Knowledge of Medical Assistant scope of practice
q Demonstrated skills in operation of relevant office medical equipment
q Basic computer skills
q Current CPR
q Excellent verbal/written communication skills and excellent interpersonal/customer
service skills
Essential
functions: Frequent standing, walking, reaching at or below
shoulder, crouching/stooping, pushing/pulling, power grasping, lifting
waist to shoulder and carrying up to 5# up to 95' required. Constant
repetitive use of both hands and simple grasping. Occasional sitting,
reaching above shoulder, bending over at waist, twisting waist/neck,
pushing/pulling, fine manipulation (data entry, setting up IV's, peeling
labels), lifting floor to waist and lifting waist to shoulder. Some
kneeling/squatting, repetitive use of feet, lifting floor to waist
and overhead.
Other
Requirements: Must promote positive customer relations skills
with patients, families, visitors, co-workers, hospital staff, physicians,
volunteers, etc. DRUG SCREEN, HEALTH EXAM AND BACKGROUND CHECK
