MEDICAL BILLER/CODER F/T for busy Medical Billing
Service in the Smithtown area. MUST have at least 5 years experience
in Medical Billing/coding. Surgical billing is a plus. Salary to commensurate

Requirements
* Bill current primary and secondary claims, as well as Workers’
Comp and No-Fault within timely filing limits.
* Analyze records to code all appropriate International Classification
of Disease (ICD 9) and/or Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding
for billing of insurance carriers, maintaining comprehensive knowledge
of insurance filing and relationship to ICD 9 and CPT coding conventions.
* Review medical record documentation to identify all services provided
by physicians.
* Post both insurance and patient payments.
* Recognize potential for additional coding revenue and initiate policies
and procedures for implementation.
* Research and initiate activity to resolve complex charge processing
and coding issues, review difficult classification situations to determine
the most appropriate codes.
* Enter patient demographics.
* Work accounts in a timely and accurate manner, performing quality
assurance for charges and compliance.
* Ensure timely filing deadlines are met.
* Communicate with physicians, practice administrators, and other
physician staff to resolve billing issues.
* Answer patient phone calls as they come in.
* Process returned mail.
* Respond to inquiries through correspondence or by telephone.
* May compose correspondence pertaining to account activities.
* Perform clerical functions incidental to account maintenance activities.
* Other duties
as assigned.
