Job Description
Job Summary: This position is responsible for the development and
delivery of nursing and clinical education in a patient care area
from basic to advanced practice levels. Plans, conducts and evaluates
unit-specific new orientation, education and training in the assigned
department. Works collaboratively with unit management and Regional
Education to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient
care by providing educational support to staff. Essential Duties:
* Provides education, training and consultative services
to clinical staff in assigned area. Assists with assessing, developing,
revising, and coordinating teaching programs. Provides in-service
education; participates in related clinical instruction and conferences,
maintains and improves knowledge and competency in staff’s nursing
practice skills. Ensures that educational programs provide staff with
skills and competency needed to meet all applicable regulatory requirements.
* Plans and directs the orientation of new personnel
to each unit. Facilitates staff development of assigned department
personnel by promoting learning experiences and information for staff
based on identified needs of the individuals. Responsible for development
of competency assessment tools, ensuring these assessments are completed,
and conducts education as necessary in follow-up. Provides feedback
to unit management regarding staff's competency for performance evaluation
through ongoing skills assessment May be responsible for keeping accurate
and thorough documentation of competency assessments and results (varies
by department).
Job Requirements
Education:
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
* Bachelaor of Science in Nursing is required.
* Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
* Candidates with at least ten years of nursing experience
in the specialty area for which they are applying and are actively
engaged in attaining either their BSN or MSN, with a graduation date
identified and with continued progress towards completion, will also
be considered for this position.
* This position requires a minimum of three years nursing experience
in specialty area and previous experience in educating/training of
health care personnel; supervisory experience is preferred.
License/Certification:
* Current State Licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
* Certification in specialty area to be obtained within one year of
hire.
* Any additional certifications as required in each specialty area
to be obtained within one year of hire.
