Job Description
WellPoint is the nation's leading health benefits company serving
the needs of approximately 28 million medical members nationwide.
Position can be located at any WellPoint location.
Travel Requirement: 25%
This individual plans, directs, and controls the resources and efforts
of the WellPoint Technology & Operations technology solutions
areas. He or she will assist in the evolution of the enterprise architecture
function/program, including the coordination of enterprise business,
information, technical and solution architectures.
This position is responsible for:
* Continuous
detection of critical deficiencies and recommending solutions for
improvement.
* Leading the technical staff across the organization to drive change.
* Oversees the accomplishment the objectives of WellPoint and the
IT organization. Obtains resources (people, funding, material, support)
to get things accomplished.
* This leader will also be required to stay in the forefront of healthcare
industry technology and business trends/breakthroughs championing
change and promoting innovations that are in alignment with the corporate
objectives.
* Defining governing principles to guide information, technology,
and solution decision making for the enterprise.
* Standards for the evaluation and selection of hardware and software
product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations
will also be a responsibility of this team.
* This team will also define the level of documentation (form/content)
of all architecture design and analysis work.
* Provides leadership in motivating subordinates to accomplish WellPoint
IT goals and objectives.
* Develops a strong team through training and effective organizational
development practices.
* Implements the policies, practices, and procedures of WellPoint
and Information Technology organizations.
* Has fiscal responsibility for IT budgets.
* Establishes relationships with business users.
* Participates with other executives to establish strategic plans
and objectives.
* Makes final decisions at the business unit level and ensures operations'
effective achievement of objectives.
Job Requirements
Typically requires an advanced degree in Information Technology or
a related discipline and 15+ years experience leading project teams
and providing direction for employees. Expert knowledge of one or
more specific technologies, and a broad understanding of the primary
areas of a major corporate IT function. Demonstrated ability to motivate,
coach, counsel and train staff, Effective communication skills, including
facilitation, consultation, negotiation and persuasion. Ability to
communicate with customers about technical issues in non-technical
terms. Understands the business processes that the system supports.
