TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANT – EXPERT - (CLASSROOM
DESIGNER)
BENEFITS/FLSA:
This position is covered by health benefits, and is exempt (not eligible
for overtime compensation) according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

GENERAL
SUMMARY OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The position has the
primary responsibility for technology classroom design development.
This includes upgrading or retrofitting classrooms with new technologies
relevant to instruction as well as sophisticated designs for new classrooms
within new construction. Also part of the responsibility set is investigating
and pursuing new ideas and technologies with the potential to enhance
the instructional environment for any/all learning spaces. The position
will serve as the campus expert consultant on classroom design best
practices as well as developing and recommending effective standards
in coordination with substantial faculty input into the process.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:
Classroom Research
and Development
*Conduct research into technologies that have major impacts on instructional
environment.
*Select technology products and design systems that address faculty
instructional needs.
*Conduct surveys and other analysis to determine the critical instructional
classroom needs and to identify the best and most appropriate technologies
to address those needs.
*Produce actual designs and/or drawings detailing classroom solutions
that incorporate appropriate technologies.
*Lead and supervise lower-level staff and vendors in the implementation
of completed designs for specific classroom(s).
*Understand, recommend, design and implement ADA and universal design
principles.
Training and Documentation
*Prepare and publish
FAQ's, web pages, general documentation, and other support documents
for both customers and colleagues.
*Present workshops
on subjects related to instructional technologies and best practice
concepts.
*Facilitate understanding and collaboration with diverse academic
and administrative groups/committees across campus to promote more
cooperative solutions.
Requirements
MINIMUM/ENTRY
QUALIFICATIONS: To enter this classification, a basic foundation
of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application
program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally
be obtained through a bachelor's degree in computer science, information
systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields,
or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.
