Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Data Entry Clerk will work
with monetary transactions regarding patients and insurance companies.
He/she will follow overall process and maintain payments, postings,
allowances and refunds electronically while accurately tracking all
transactions offline through a general ledger.
Essential
Duties:
Maintains the patient’s privacy and confidentiality
to hospital policy.
Participates in all mandatory hospital and JACHO inservices.
Balances monetary payment to batch totals with accuracy.
Keeps current on changes in billing system and requirements of third
party payors in order to accurately produce a patient bill.
Posts third-party remittances to ensure accurate accounting of receivables.
Coordinates billing process to expedite timeliness of process.
Reviews remittance advice from insurance companies as received, key
rejection information into computer, and refers account to proper
clerk for reprocessing.
Calculates discounts and allowance on PPO accounts.
Communicates courteously and effectively with patients and the public.
Contributes to the efficient operation of the Business Office Department.
Job Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Previous Accounts Receivable experience preferred.
Familiar with insurance remittances/EOBs, managed care contracts,
and work with posting product — start up and balance of daily
download of payments.
License/Certification:
None required.
